Quick Homemade Hamburger Buns

It’s not hard to make a quick homemade hamburger buns. Start this bun recipe with a 7 cup Kitchen Aid food processor. And, the whole thing from mixing to rising to baking should take about an hour.

Makes 8 buns, or 12 small buns

Ingredients for Quick Homemade Hamburger Buns

1 package of yeast

1 cup water (just a little warmer than your hand)

1/4 cup coconut sugar

5 TB ghee or 5 1/3 TB melted butter

1 whole egg and 1 separated egg

3 cups flour

1/2 tsp salt whisked with flour

Method

Add yeast, water and coconut sugar in bowl of a stand mixer with dough hook attachment. Stir on low for 5 seconds.

Let sit for 5 minutes to make sure yeast is active.

Turn mixer on low. Whisk egg and egg white and add to mixer (save other egg white for now). When combined, add flour about a third at a time. Allow dough hook to “knead” the dough on low for about 5 minutes. Turn out dough onto a floured board and cut into 8 pieces (see video). Form into buns and place on a silpat lined baking pan. Cover with a damp (CLEAN) tea towel and let rise for about 20 minutes. Brush well with remaining egg white and bake at 425F for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
