This week, researchers in Australia announced the creation of a genetically modified banana. By using a gene from another banana plant, the Cavendish Banana is being given immunity to an otherwise fatal disease. But as we learned with the weird biomedical science experimentation on the GMO tomato, researchers have other plans besides what is said when the television interviews are being conducted.
Once this genie is out of the bottle, there’s no going back.
