A company has genetically removed DNA from the pigs that leaves them vulnerable to a particular respiratory disease.  The company expects FDA approval early in 2024, and hopes to have them out in American farms soon thereafter.   What’s missing in this whole process?

TESTING for human safety!

These genetically modified foods are being released onto the markets and grocery store shelves without long-term studies to test whether they are safe for human consumption.

Elizabeth Dougherty has been cooking and writing about food intensively for more than ten years. She is the fourth generation of chefs and gourmet grocers in her family with her mother, Francesca Esposito and grandmother, Carmella being major influences in her early cooking years.
