Destination Unknown – Greenbank Observatory
Tour Date: 7/3/2021
Tour Guide: Elizabeth Dougherty
Destination Unknown – Greenbank Observatory
In our Destination Unknown this week, Elizabeth takes us inside the National Radio Quiet Zone (NRQZ).
Tucked deep in the mountains of southern West Virginia, radio signals of all types are prohibited by law. You’ll be asked to lock your cell phones and cameras inside their lockers, then board a Faraday cage enclosed tour bus for a trip to the Green Bank Observatory. With very sensitive equipment looking toward the skies, researchers there are listening for radio signals from the worlds far away.
Join us for “Destination Unknown” every week on Food and Travel Nation.
